Synopsis

Amber Alyssa Tuccaro (January 3, 1990 – disappeared August 18, 2010) was a 20-year-old Mikisew Cree First Nations woman from Fort McMurray, Alberta. She disappeared after accepting a ride from an unidentified man near Edmonton, an event recorded during a disturbing phone call she made while in the vehicle. Two years later, on September 1, 2012, her remains were discovered in rural Leduc County, just outside the city. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigated the case—which remains unsolved to this day—but a 2018 federal review concluded the investigation was significantly deficient, citing failures to adhere to protocols and delays in following leads. The Alberta RCMP has stated that the case remains open and ongoing, reaffirming their commitment in 2023 to pursuing justice and closure for the Tuccaro family.
