Babies in the Woods
Stanley park child murders.
Read synopsis
The "Babes in the Woods" case refers to the tragic discovery of the skeletal remains of two young children in Stanley Park, Vancouver, in 1953. Hidden under a woman's coat and surrounded by a hatchet and forest debris, the scene puzzled investigators for decades. The identities of the children remained unknown for nearly 70 years, fueling speculation and folklore. In 2022, advancements in genetic genealogy finally led to a breakthrough: the children were identified as brothers Derek and David D’Alton, aged 6 and 7, who had been killed in 1948. Their mother, who reportedly had a history of hardship, was named as the primary suspect, but she died in 1996 without ever being charged.
