In the early morning of January 18, 1983, authorities arrived at a suburban Coquitlam home on Spuraway Avenue to a chilling scene: six members of the Blackman family were dead, victims of a brutal rampage executed in their own home. The sole survivor off-site was 22-year-old Bruce Alfred Blackman, who was found nearby and immediately arrested after strange declarations that he was the Antichrist and that the world would end on January 31. The murders of his father Richard, mother Irene, two sisters and a brother-in-law and his teenage brother Rick stunned the community and triggered deep examination of mental illness, family trauma and the capacity for calculated violence within what appeared outwardly to be an ordinary family.
