Synopsis

Chris Benoit (1967–2007) was a Canadian professional wrestling superstar whose shocking legacy was defined by the horrific events of June 22–24, 2007. Over those three days, Benoit murdered his wife Nancy and their seven-year-old son Daniel—through strangulation and suffocation—before taking his own life by hanging at their home in Fayetteville, Georgia. Toxicology reports and brain studies later suggested severe chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), compounded by steroid and alcohol use, may have driven him to this unfathomable act. The tragedy irrevocably changed how WWE addresses athlete health, triggers public and medical scrutiny into head trauma implications, and remains one of the most disturbing chapters in sports and popular culture history.
