Synopsis
Clifford Robert Olson, infamously dubbed the “Beast of British Columbia,” was a Canadian serial killer who, between November 1980 and August 1981, abducted, sexually assaulted, tortured, and murdered 11 children and teenagers aged between 9 and 18 in the Vancouver area. The victims included Simon Partington (9), Christine Weller (12), Colleen Marian Daignault (13), Ada Court (13), Judy Kozma (14), Raymond King (15), Daryn Todd Johnsrude (16), Sandra Lynn Wolfsteiner (16), Louise Simonne Marie Evelyn Chartrand (17), and Sigrun Arnd (18), among others. In a highly controversial move, police agreed to pay Olson CAD 100,000—delivered to his wife—for the locations of victims’ bodies, a decision that outraged the public and victims’ families—but ultimately proviided closure about the sites of the murders.
