Dana Bradley

A hitchhiking murder.

Dana Bradley was a 14-year-old girl from St. John's, Newfoundland, whose disappearance and murder in December 1981 remains one of Canada's most haunting unsolved cases. After visiting a friend’s house, Dana was last seen hitchhiking on Topsail Road, hoping to get home in time for her mother’s birthday. Four days later, her body was discovered in a wooded area near Maddox Cove, laid out in a “burial fashion” with her schoolbooks tucked under her arm. She had been sexually assaulted and killed by blunt force trauma. Despite a confession in 1986 that was later recanted, the case remains open, with new DNA evidence emerging in recent years that investigators hope will finally lead to justice.
