Granger Taylor

An out of this world disappearance.

Granger Ormond Taylor was a mechanical savant from Duncan, British Columbia, was known for rebuilding vintage machinery—cars, locomotives, even a WWII aircraft—in his backyard. He crafted a life‑size “spaceship” from satellite dishes and began claiming telepathic contact with aliens. On the night he vanished, Taylor left a farewell note on his parents’ door saying he was embarking on a 42‑month voyage aboard an alien spacecraft, and struck through “death” in his will, replacing it with “departure.” His pink pickup truck disappeared into a fierce storm. In 1986, bony fragments and truck wreckage were found at a blast site on Mount Prevost matching his vehicle and personal items, prompting the coroner to declare him dead due to injuries consistent with an explosion—though no DNA confirmation was made, and the case remains shrouded in mystery.
