Along a lonely stretch of northern British Columbia lies a road with a chilling name—the Highway of Tears. For decades, women and girls, many of them Indigenous, have vanished or been found murdered along its 725-kilometre path. Hitchhiking, poverty, and isolation made them vulnerable, but families say indifference and systemic failures sealed their fate. Behind every mile marker is another unanswered question: how many lives were stolen here, and how many more stories remain untold?
