Synopsis
Jennifer Pan, born June 17, 1986 in Markham, Ontario, orchestrated a kill-for-hire plot on November 8, 2010 that resulted in the death of her mother, Bich Ha Pan, and the severe injury of her father, Huei Hann Pan. Pretending a home invasion had occurred, she called 911—yet investigators uncovered inconsistencies, including her calm demeanor and contradictory stories. Evidence—including text logs, her father’s testimony, and police interviews—revealed that she had hired hitmen through her boyfriend, Daniel Wong. In December 2014, she was convicted of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy, receiving life sentences with parole eligibility after 25 years. After an appeal in May 2023, Ontario’s Court of Appeal ordered a new trial on the murder charge, but upheld the attempted-murder conviction. In April 2025, the Supreme Court confirmed those outcomes, meaning she remains incarcerated at Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, likely until at least the mid‑2040s
