Michael Dunahee

Keep the hope alive.

Michael Wayne Dunahee, a four-year-old from Victoria, British Columbia, disappeared on March24,1991, from the playground adjacent to Blanshard Elementary School while his mother participated in a flag‑football game nearby and his father watched. Despite being just metres away, no witnesses saw what happened. He was last seen wearing a blue‑hooded jacket, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T‑shirt, rugby pants, and blue sneakers . The case sparked one of the largest missing‑child investigations in Canadian history: over 11,000 tips were logged manually in the early days, and over three decades later the file remains open and active . His family turned tragedy into advocacy—his mother helped push for implementation of Canada’s Amber Alert system and founded the “Keep the Hope Alive” fundraising run to support Child Find BC in his name.
