Born in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, Pearl Hart grew up far from the lawless frontier that would one day make her famous. In May 1899, alongside her accomplice Joe Boot, she robbed a stagecoach near Globe, Arizona Territory, taking a few dollars and personal belongings from its passengers. Disguised in men’s clothing and armed with a revolver, she became one of the only women ever known to commit such a crime in the Old West. When captured after a dramatic pursuit, Hart’s charm, intelligence, and unapologetic attitude turned her into a media sensation. Though she claimed poverty drove her actions, her name would forever be linked with the fading legend of the American frontier.
