Read synopsis
40-year-old Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski arrived in Canada for a new life, but confusion and poor communication at Vancouver International Airport turned his arrival into tragedy. After spending nearly ten hours lost and distressed in the airport’s customs area, Dziekanski began behaving erratically. When police were called, four RCMP officers confronted him within seconds and used a Taser multiple times, causing him to collapse and die on the floor. The incident, captured on video by a bystander, sparked national outrage, exposing deep flaws in police response, language services for newcomers, and the handling of non-lethal force in Canada.
