Read synopsis
The American merchant brigantine Mary Celeste was discovered adrift and abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean, its sails partly set and cargo untouched. The lifeboat was missing, but the ship itself was seaworthy, stocked with food, and carried no sign of struggle or violence. Captain Benjamin Briggs, his family, and seven crewmen had vanished without a trace. The mystery of the Mary Celeste has endured for more than a century, spawning theories of mutiny, piracy, accidental poisoning, and seaquake or waterspout. Despite countless investigations, no evidence has ever explained what truly happened on the ghost ship that came to symbolize the ocean’s most haunting secrets.
