Travis Baumgartner
Edmonton Armoured Truck Massacre.
Case Synopsis
21‑year‑old security guard Travis Baumgartner, employed by G4S Cash Solutions, opened fire on four of his colleagues during an ATM refill run at the University of Alberta’s HUB Mall in Edmonton. Three were killed and one critically injured. He then stole the company’s armored vehicle and fled. Baumgartner was apprehended the following day near the Canada–U.S. border at Lynden, Washington, carrying over CAD 330,000 in cash. Prosecutors described it as one of Canada’s deadliest armored‑car crimes. In September 2013, he pleaded guilty to multiple murder and robbery charges and received a life sentence with no possibility of parole for 40 years, making it among the most severe sentences in modern Canadian legal history
